When winter arrives and the frigid weather chills the air. A warm fire in the fireplace takes the winter chill out of your home. Fruit trees are used for firewood for the same reasons as trees like oak and maple. Their wood tends to be dense, clean and efficient when it comes to heat production. Fruit trees do not grow as large as oak or maple, but trees like apple and pear are known to burn very well. Fruit tree woods added to the fire will give off various sweet-smelling smoke.

In addition fruit trees can be used as wood for smoking meats. All fruit and citrus trees have a light to medium sweet flavor and are excellent with poultry and ham.

At our private lot we keep hardwood only that is seasoned for about 6 months. Our firewood is available after November 1st and must be purchased by the bin (1/20 cord).
